My Story

FEMALE | DOB: June 2026 (Estimated)

This kitten will be available to be adopted now and taken home on Oct 15. You must submit an online application on our website, and a deposit of $200 will be accepted to reserve this kitten.

Indigo is an adorable female kitten distinguished by her beautiful tortie point coloration, which showcases a unique blend of rich, warm hues that create a striking appearance. Her fur features a delightful mix of deep oranges, blacks, and cream, typical of the tortoiseshell pattern, while her point coloration adds an elegant contrast with darker shades on her ears, paws, and tail. This distinctive coloring not only makes her visually appealing but also highlights her individual personality traits.

Indigo's mother, a friendly and sociable cat, has a warm disposition that often draws the attention of those around her. She enjoys interacting with people, demonstrating a playful and affectionate nature that has likely influenced her kittens. Despite the nurturing environment provided by her mother, Indigo herself exhibits a more reserved demeanor. She tends to be quite timid and easily frightened, which is not uncommon for kittens who may not have had extensive socialization experiences early in life.

When approached or picked up, Indigo's fear manifests in a defensive reaction; she may resort to biting as a means of expressing her discomfort and anxiety. This behavior is often a result of her instinctual response to perceived threats, stemming from her innate desire to protect herself in unfamiliar situations. It is essential to approach her gently and patiently, allowing her the opportunity to acclimate to human interaction at her own pace.

With time and positive reinforcement, it is possible for Indigo to overcome her fears and develop trust in her human companions. Creating a safe and secure environment, where she can explore and engage at her own speed, will be crucial in helping her feel more comfortable. Gentle handling and playtime with toys can also aid in building her confidence, allowing her to flourish into a more sociable and affectionate companion. As she gradually learns to trust, her true personality may shine through, revealing the playful and loving nature that lies beneath her initial apprehension.

Adoption Requirements

It is essential for Indigo to be adopted alongside another kitten from our rescue or, alternatively, into a home that already has another cat under the age of five. We place a high priority on ensuring that our kittens are not adopted individually, as this can lead to feelings of loneliness and anxiety. Kittens are social creatures by nature, and when they are adopted in pairs, they benefit immensely from developing vital social skills that will serve them well throughout their lives. They keep each other entertained, which helps reduce the likelihood of unwanted behaviors like biting and scratching, as they have a playmate to engage with. The companionship they provide each other contributes significantly to their overall happiness and well-being.

Furthermore, if you already have an older cat at home, bringing in two kittens can help maintain a harmonious environment, as they can bond and interact in a way that eases the transition for everyone involved. This social interaction is crucial in helping them learn appropriate behaviors and creating a balanced dynamic within the household. By fostering these relationships, we ensure that Indigo and her future companion will thrive in their new environment, filled with love and play.

How to Prepare for Adoption

Adopting a pet is a big commitment. Here are some tips to help you prepare:

  1. Research: Understand the needs of the breed or species you wish to adopt. Each pet has unique requirements.

  2. Home Setup: Create a safe and welcoming environment for your new furry friend. Remove any hazards and set up a cozy space for them.

  3. Supplies: Gather all necessary items, including food, litter, toys, and a comfortable bed.

  4. Time and Patience: Be prepared to invest time and patience in your new relationship. Building trust takes time, but the rewards are immeasurable.
