Want to make a real difference for cats while being part of a caring team?

We’re looking for volunteers (including remote roles) who want to help our rescue run smoothly and help more cats find safety and homes.

These roles have a big impact and help us save more lives.

Apply now – we’d love to have you on the team!

Paint & Purr

Looking for a fun and relaxing way to spend time with family and feline friends while celebrating the upcoming fall season?

Finally Home Cat Rescue is so excited to announce that we will be hosting a Paint & Purr event at the Purrfect Café, 2181 McNicoll Ave Unit 7-8, Scarborough, on October 29th, Thursday, from 6:30-8:30 PM!

This event will feature a guided painting session, including art supplies, followed by time with the wonderful rescue cats at the cafe.

Our cats will be so excited to meet you and to see the beautiful artwork you create! ❤️

Upcoming Adoption Events

Exciting news! We are hosting an adoption event October 23rd-25th at 1700 Elgin Mills Road East, Richmond Hill, Ontario. Whether you're looking for a new furry companion or just looking to spend some quality time with cats, we have the right place for you!

Our cats have been waiting their whole lives to find their furrever home, and we are hoping that you can make that dream come true! 🐾

This weekend event allows us to share the hope and excitement our rescue cats have for finding their furrever families, while giving you the chance to meet them, get to know their personalities, and even fall in love with them ❤️

Come say hello to us on the following dates:

  • October 23rd (5- 8 pm)

  • October 24th  (9 am to 4 pm)

  • October 25th (10 am to 4 pm)

Your new best friend is waiting for you!

Wondering about Sage?

If you saw our previous newsletter, you’ll be happy to hear that Sage has finally had her surgery and is recovering well at home.

Her foster reports that she’s using the litter box, eating well, and in good spirits. We’re hopeful she’ll soon be back to showing off her adorable kitten energy!

Thanks to the generous support of Animal Aid and Adoption (AAA) and our wonderful supporters, Sage’s medical costs were reduced, and we’ve raised over $1,800 to help cover her veterinary bills.

We’re so grateful for your kindness and support.

Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts (RHCPA) event

Thank you to those who attended "Sunday Sessions" hosted by York Region Open Mic at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts this past Sunday to show their support!

We had a great afternoon of watching live performances, as well as being able to spread awareness about our rescue and what we do. We also had some adorable goodies available for sale! All proceeds go directly back to our rescue & caring for our cats!

For those who missed the one on October 11th, no worries! We will be hosting another booth on November 15th and December 13th, from 2:00-5:00 pm at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts, 10268 Yonge St, Richmond Hill (Lexus Hall). We hope to see you there!

Fall Season Safety

With the upcoming festivities just around the corner, here is a list of reminders and precautions to take to ensure the safety and happiness of your pet ❤️

1) Halloween dress-up dangers

While accessorizing your pets in cute, festive outfits is always a staple during celebrations, it is important to prioritize and check your pet's safety and comfort. Ill-fitting costumes can restrict your pet's airway and pose a choking hazard. Cats, especially, may feel unnecessarily scared and stressed when placed in these conditions. Often, they will shut down and freeze due to confusion and distress.

These short-term endearments could lead to long-term issues such as stress and fear. Instead, it is good to consider your pet's personality & whether the size fits your pet well before trying any costumes.

2) Check the weather

Despite the cozy fur coats on your pets' backs, they aren't completely resistant to the cold. For pets who enjoy the outdoors, it is important to check the temperature and weather conditions before allowing them to venture out without protective gear. Protective clothing could include boots to shield their delicate paws from frostbite, and a jacket to block the wind. Remember - pets get cold just like us! 🐾

3) Watch for ticks

Tiny but vicious, ticks pose a dangerous threat to the livelihoods of our beloved pets. They are often even more prevalent during mild winters. Often burrowed in leaf piles or in grass, one swift brush through their territory and these unwanted guests can easily latch onto your beloved pets. At first, tick bites can start off as skin irritation, swelling, itching, and in extreme cases, allergic reactions. Things can take a turn for the worse very quickly if left untreated, so it is very important to maintain the preventative program developed by your veterinarian, as well as avoiding areas with high tick presence at all costs.

Volunteer Foster Coordinator - We're hiring!

Do you or someone you know have a passion for animal welfare and want to help rescue cats find loving homes? Well, we have the perfect role for you!

Finally Home Cat Rescue is excited to announce that we are looking for a Volunteer Foster Coordinator!

In this role, you will:

  • Manage foster applications

  • Track and keep in contact with foster homes

  • Match rescue cats to appropriate fosters

Donations

You can help these amazing young cats by donating using the button below or by e-transfer to donations@finally-home.ca ❤️

Your generous contributions are the lifeline for our rescue cats, directly covering essential veterinary bills, life-saving surgeries, and routine vaccinations. Beyond healthcare, your support provides a sanctuary filled with nourishing food, warm beds, and the vital enrichment toys that keep our cats happy and engaged while they wait for their forever families. It is more than just shelter; it is a place where they learn to trust and love again.

Get Involved

Donate

We rely on donations to afford food, litter, pet rescues, and vet trips. Any amount helps, and you can choose to donate one-time or monthly.

Foster

Foster parents play a crucial role in giving cats in need a second chance. It's a chance to offer love and companionship to a cat without a long-term commitment, while helping save lives.

Adopt

All our adoptable cats are well-cared for, vaccinated, and spayed or neutered. To start the adoption process, you can visit our cat care locations or submit an application online.

Volunteer

Volunteers assist us with feeding, grooming, and socializing our feline friends. No prior experience is necessary, just a love for cats and a willingness to lend a helping hand. We also welcome volunteers to help with social media and fundraising.

Follow & Share Our Instagram

The easiest way to help us spread our message is to follow us on Instagram at @finallycats and share it with your network!

Special Shoutout

Every donation matters!

Finally Home Cat Rescue is thrilled to announce that we have received a $5,000 donation from three wonderful individuals!

Special thanks to Josie, Gabriella, and Josipa Bencic for your incredible generosity and meaningful contribution to our rescue!

Your support means the world to us, even more so to our cats! All donations will go towards helping provide our cats with enrichment toys, basic essentials, funding our veterinary bills, and other essentials while they await their furrever homes ❤️
